Filling Machines
The Grunwald Filling Range
We offer various rotary machines, from a simple 1-lane to 6-lanes for compact solutions, our linear cup filling and closing machines can be supplied in single, double and triple step as well as bucket fillers for large volume.
We can also supply vibratory-fed volumetric filling solutions for non-pumpable products, such as pasta salads and we can incorporate multihead weighers/auger fillers to offer comprehensive solutions.

Rotary vs Linear vs Bucket lines
This table shows the main differences between machines, all types are very flexible in options and wither space is a factor, production speed or simply a future proof machine then Grunwald has an answer for you.

Options available for Grunwald Machines
Machine
Stations
All Grunwald machines are made to order to the specifications required and can have a range of filing stations to accommodate different product ranges and formats, visual effects, quality control, product shelf life and future proofing.
This shows some of the stations you can have on Grunwald machines, for more details or if you have a project in mind get in touch with one of our team.
Packaging
As standard, Grunwald machines have a packaging format store nested on a conveyor ready to be automatically loaded into position when the current stack runs low.
If you are running at high speeds you can have extended storage added onto the machine.
Because of this storage most Grunwald machines can be operated by a single operator.
Shelf ready packaging or we can work with stand alone partners
Transport
All Grunwald machines use either a platen or a base plate to transport the packaging formats around the stations. The most common platens can quickly be changed for different formats in as little as 5 minutes on some models.
The platens are milled from a solid stainless steel block which gives them the advantage of a better seal on the heat stations due to being able to take 1-2 tonnes of pressure without bending.
Sterilisation
Before the product is filled you have the option to have pot sterilisation to help give the product a longer shelf life without having to slow the machine down. The types of sterilisation are:
UV sterilisation blasts a strong UV light on the insides of the posts and cups killing most forms of bacteria.
Ultra Clean design (UC) is where the machine has been designed to be cleaned and handle the product under special conditions which can achieve up to Log 4 sterilisation rating.
Gas flushing is a new method that can push out the normal atmosphere and reduce the residual oxygen values down to as little as 0.5% at 40 cycles per min.
Filling
Grunwald machinery can fill a wide variety of product. Advanced spill free nozzles and custom shapes get the perfect even fill with highly accurate fills to meet even the strictest tolerances.
Grunwald machines can offer a wide variety of different filling equipment and nozzles to create the perfect visual effect with your products like swirls, layers and inject fillings.
Dosing & Decorating
After the fill, a Grunwald machine can have a number of extra doses to achieve a range of finishes with the option of adding a garnish or sprinkles with the use of a vibration filler or core filling, adding oils or sachets of sauces on the top.
Manual dosing station areas can also be added for special toppings such as biscuit or wafers.
Sealing
As with the packaging, the lids have an automated storage system and can use pre-cut seals, on the roll and cut after sealing. The seals are placed over the pots/cups and tagged in place they are then heat sealed under a force of up to 1-2 tonnes pressure.
After the seal is tested, the package can also have a lid from an automated store placed and pressed closed, this also includes snap on tamper evident lids.
Checking
After the seals have been applied, the next station is the seal test. This measures if it has a good air tight seal on each product. If it fails it gets logged and removed from the production line during the ejection process.
The check weigher is used to ensure the weight is within the required limits.
After these checks the product can have the date and other information printed onto the packaging.
Ejecting & End of Line
At the end of the machine, the last station is the product eject station. This can go in single file or multiple lanes for packing. Grunwald machines also have the option to have the products packed into cartons or multi packs.
During the ejecting process products that fail the testing stage will be removed using air or mechanical systems.
After eject, the product can then go onto a range of printers, metal detectors or x-ray machines for quality checks and shelf life tagging.
